Today marks the first anniversary of the disappearance of 4-year-old Madeleine McCann in Portugal where her family was taking a vacation. According to reports, Madeleine McCann was in bed with her two siblings while their parents were dining with friends at a nearby eatery that was in sight of the holiday apartment.

How time flies that it is quite shocking to know that it has been a year since that awful incident happened. And the sad thing to know is that after a year, there is still no closure to the case.

I still remember that period of time where I received so many forwarded messages from concerned people who kept saying that we should get the news out to help find the missing girl. And if all the other emails of missing people were fake, this one, we just have to push that forward button and ask questions later.

Police in Portugal has listed Madeleine’s parents Gerry & Kate McCann as suspects in this case and they are requesting for a reconstruction of that fateful night to try to get a better insight of what actually happened that night.

Madeleine McCann

Is Madeleine still alive? Only God knows. Who did it and why did he, she or they do it? The fact that Madeleine was supposed to be sleeping with her two siblings at the time period that she was said to have gone missing, and both the siblings or Madeleine herself did not raise a ruckus as she was led away, mean that this was done by someone she [and her siblings] trusted.

While investigations should be left to the Police from both countries, Portugal and Britain, and while the perpetrator(s) may be able to escape from legal prosecution, I wonder how he/she/they would be able to live with themselves with whatever they did to Madeleine McCann.

May she be well wherever she is.

ATM Dispenses Double Amount In Hull, England

Posted by: Emily   in UK Headlines

Did you read the odd news on Reuters where an ATM in Hull, Northern England, dispensed double the withdrawal amount for a few hours until it ran out of cash?

News reports said that people who discovered this malfunction were calling everyone they know to get down to that ATM to make withdrawals. I find it really odd that the daily limit is GBP300. Hhhmmm in contrast, my HSBC account here allows me to withdraw five-figures via the ATM.

It is said that the people who made withdrawals could face charges so that the machine operator could recoup losses. It’s not difficult to trace who made withdrawals from the machine because every transaction is recorded.

Well, I think that the operator should just let these people go with the cash, in good faith. It’s not their fault that the money came out double what they requested for and it is only human nature to get the most advantage over the glitch, right?

Reading this case, I am reminded of the time when an ecommerce store wrongly listed the price of an electronic item and everyone who found out about it was telling everyone else they know to make a purchase of that item. The company did not see through those orders, if memory serves me right.
