It’s a political tsunami here in Malaysia where at this time of writing, three states have fallen to the hands of the opposition. They do not have enough seats per political party but with a combined force, they are able to form new governments, taking over from Barisan Nasional [BN], the national coalition.

A change, while always difficult to accept, will be good for the people. Is there a nation with a coalition party ruling for fifty years? There is was, in Malaysia. Now, after fifty long years, the people are more politically aware, thanks to the internet, especially the power of blogs.
In fact, for the first time in the world, a blogger, Jeff Ooi Chuan Aun who writes Screenshots, under the opposition banner of DAP has been voted into Parliament. See, who said Malaysia is not “advanced”? While other countries vote porn stars, we vote bloggers. Who will be the next blogger to enter politics and be a Parliamentarian?
The bottom line is, the people have shown that they can decide their Government, their future and the well-being of the future generation by just exercising their fundamental right to vote. By voting wisely, we are able to check the Government of the day to ensure that they perform as they have promised.
