So the case of Wilson and Brenda Sullivan child abuse finally came to a conclusion where Brenda pleaded guilty to child abuse and neglect and sentenced to twenty years imprisonment. Wilson, on the other hand, escaped jail term as he died while waiting trial. Well, the court case spanned over two years, what with all the red tape and such!

Wilson Sullivan

Really, it is shocking to know that Wilson and Brenda had adopted five children and have a biological son. I was told that the adopted parents are given US$600 per month for each child that they adopt. Arghh.. no wonder, even if they do not like children.

Brenda Sullivan

I read that this child had behavioral and development issues, and there were two other children who had mental problems as well. Reports mentioned that THREE out of their six children were abused. So I am guessing the other two must have been the two who are mentally handicapped.

So, are the Wilsons worse monsters than Josef Fritzl, the Austrian psycho? The Wilsons, after all, did this to their “adopted” children while Josef did it to his own child. Well, what do you think? I say, the courts are too kind to them. People like these need to be tried at a different court! What has the world come to? I will never understand. *shakes head* But then there’s the Duggar Family with child number 18, so there’s hope yet.

Top Ten Malaysian Billionaires [May 2008]

Posted by: Emily   in Malaysian News

Forbes just released a list of the world’s richest people and here are the top ten richest Malaysians, according to Forbes.com

I have placed their age in brackets and their flagship companies. The youngest among them are “already” 56 years old: Syed Mokhtar AlBukhary at No. 8 and Vincent Tan at No. 9.

The funny thing is that I didn’t even realise that I am such a busy body that without reading the report in depth, I was able to name all their flagship companies. Blek….. well, not that I have any INTEREST in them, you know?

1. Robert Kuok (Age: 84) [Wilmar International]
2. Ananda Krishnan (Age: 70) [Maxis, Astro]
3. Lee Shin Cheng (Age: 69) [IOI Group]
4. Teh Hong Piow (Age: 78) [Public Bank]
5. Lee Kim Hua & family (Age: 79) [Genting]
6. Quek Leng Chan (Age: 67) [Hong Leong Group]
7. Yeoh Tiong Lay & family (Age: 78) [YTL Corporation]
8. Syed Mokhtar AlBukhary (Age: 56) [Malaysia Mining Corp. (MMC)]
9. Vincent Tan (Age: 56) [Berjaya Corporation Bhd.]
10. Tiong Hiew King (Age: 78) [Rimbunan Hijau]

But then, does anyone know what sets these billionaires apart from the rest of us who are not so rich? I am not talking about their wealth and neither am I talking about their lifestyle. So what if their bank accounts have a few more zeros than us, eh? They’re still HUMAN, right?
I wonder if they will even feel anything if they dropped their wallet and lost $100,000. I guess it would be like if we lost one cent. Hehe!

But hey, it’s great to be rich…. At least it is great than being poor! So, more power to them, I say. What a great achievement though they do not make me prouder to be a Malaysian than I normally am.
